Welcome to our Quote of the day with explanation for April 19, 2022, and today we are going to review and explain a quote from ‘Marilyn J Awtry’.

Check the verse of the day on our religious blog.

Quote of the day

When you are tolerant, you are allowing every individual whom you meet to follow the dictates of their own reason and conscience.

Marilyn J. Awtry

The simple understanding of the word ‘tolerance’ is that it is the ability to endure continued subjection to things or people without adverse reaction.

But in our case here we are going to forgo the word ‘things’ because our quote is making reference to only tolerating people.

Now the result of tolerance within our quote’s context here is that it is going to allow the people you tolerate perform their actions and also face the reactions, without you; the one he is acting upon, taking the reverse action as it normally occurs.

This quote reminds me of the biblical text where Christ taught his followers how to turn the other cheek, if someone slaps them on one cheek.

I know it’s a hard thing to do, considering the fact that we have impulse as humans, and anger is one of those things that we find hard to control, especially if it happens unexpectedly.

For instance, someone walks up to you on the street and hits you on the face for no reason, I bet your first reaction will be to lean towards self-defense, which means you ought to fight back.

But what if you ignore the person and keep calm, then before you know it, you realize how other people who saw the incidence step in and begin to fight for you.

In all truth I know there are people we will always find very difficult to tolerate in so many instances. But if you can learn the art of tolerance, you will always realize how those who are acting against you get their repercussions, as our quote puts it ‘follow the dictates of their own reason and conscience’.

‘What goes around will always come around’ in other words, what we do to others is what will also be done to us.

Every human has a conscience, and it’s certain that they will always regret their actions later if it was not good, and it happens most only if the other person was tolerant.

I want you to take this message as an assignment, and try tolerating people for at least a month and see what the results of their actions will be.

Keep in mind that it is water we use to quence fire, adding more fuel which is hot and wild like the fire will increase it burning the more.
