Omah Lay – Musician Bio

Stanley Omah Didia, who is musically known as Omah Lay. Is of Port Harcourt origin in Rivers State of Nigeria. 

His grandfather was a band member (drummer) of the Nigerian legendary Highlife musician, Celestine Ukwu, until his death in 1976.

Omah’s father also followed the footsteps of his father. And even though his career as a drummer did not reach the heights of his father, he was still well known as a drummer in his locality.

Stanley’s genre of music may be classified into Afro Fusion. Which has a blend of Burna Boy, and mix of Wizkid.

Omah has this to say about his music, “I easily weave through Afro genres, but the vibe would always hit me first as Highlife. I guess it’s hugely due to the my massive highlife exposure, growing up in a music family like mine.

Aside from being a singer, Omah Lay is also a song-writer and producer.

For that reason, he produces most of his records.

On the 14th of February, 2020. Omah Lay released his debut single titled “You”

The single was able to have over 600,000 streams across all platforms.

Presently, Omah Lay features on Cool Fm Tastemakers’ chart and Soundcity Top 20 amongst others. 

Native Mag on their March episode of ‘Fresh Meat’, mentions Omah Lay as an artiste to watch in 2020.

His debut EP ‘Get Layd’ was set to drop on the 18th of April, but he decided to shift it to May 23 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As at the time of writing this musician bio Omah Lay EP Get Layd, has had over 20,000,000 (20 million) streams across all platforms.
