In this post, we are going to look at the meaning of the quote: “I’d rather regret the things I’ve done than regret the things I haven’t done” by Lucille Ball.
Meaning of the quote.
Before you regret those things you haven’t done, have you sit down to ask yourself:
What would have been the outcome, if I did that thing?
At times, it’s really not procrastination that prevents us from doing things we planned to do but avoiding the worst that must have been the result of doing those things.
Even though I believe in being positive, putting in our best on every task, hard work, consistency, perseverance, and what have you?
I also believe in the inevitable; that is “what must be must be” in some way.
Looking from the Christian perspective; the source of my faith, we are told not to say tomorrow we will go here, engage in this business or that.
Instead, we should always say “if the Lord wills”.
But somewhere again the scripture also helps us to understand that “faith without work is dead”.
So what does all this mean?
It means, that while keeping a positive mindset and putting in our best on every task, we must also be reminded that oftentimes things will not work out the way we anticipate.
Unless you are one who has never achieved or succeeded before; but if you have, you will really understand that it wasn’t all the time you tried that you came out successful.
But do you what keeps you succeeding every other time?
It is nothing but the regrets which accompanied those times you failed.
And since those times you didn’t try and fail do not exist, why then put a burden on yourself by putting regrets on them.
One of the characteristics of a motivated person is to try and look for positivity in every negativity.
And for that reason, spot regrets in things you did and fail and then avoid those things that made you fail next time you try.
And that’s when you will achieve success.
What’s our motivation for this quote?
Our motivation for this quote is to live a life that is free from regrets. Especially, regretting those things we have never done yet, for we know not what would have been the outcome.
Have a nice day!
