How much time you should spend blogging on a daily basis is going to depend on several factors which we are going to treat in this article.
And without much ado, let’s jump straight into treating those factors.
Are you a part-time or full-time blogger?
The very first factor that will determine how much time you should spend blogging on a daily basis is going to depends on if you are a part-time or full-time blogger.
Now if you are a part-time blogger, I am right to assume that you have another job or work that keeps you away from blogging anytime or every time.
And this again depends on the nature of your work, or let’s say if you are self-employed or working for an individual, corporation, or even the government.
Consequently, let’s put the nature of your work aside and concentrate on how much freedom you have at your working place, or when you are at work.
Working hours, as we all know differ from one nature of work to another. For instance, here in Nigeria, government workers do 8 to 4, and in the US it’s 9 to 5.
Teachers usually close for the school period by 2pm, while lecturers even get lectures that end by 6 or even 7 pm.
Let’s not also forget in a rush that there are people who do the shifting, most especially Doctors and Nurses.
This week we are on night duty, and the next week it’s the day.
Therefore, as a part-time blogger, you must first and foremost be able to sort out the amount of freedom your work gives you, and from there will be able to implement your blogging schedule.
If your nature of work gives you enough free time when you are at the working place, you can then schedule how to write at least one or two articles before you close work for the day.
You can however adjust that to fit the days when you are less or more busy at the working place.
Being a full-time blogger does not necessarily mean that you are an idle person because most people who are self-employed are also full-time bloggers.
A good example is me.
As a full-time blogger, you should set a blogging strategy and stick to it.
This strategy has to include how many articles you will be able to write or publish in a single day. Traditionally, every blogger is expected to publish a minimum of 15 articles in 5 days, and if you divide that you get 3 articles every day.
Basically, there are days you are going to have much freedom, and there are days you will be engaged; even if you do not have any other side hustle apart from blogging, there are days you will just get tired of nothing and decide to relax or are out there attending one event or another.
Whatever the case may be, you have to set your blogging strategy.
One of the best and easiest means of achieving the perfect time for blogging is practicing post-scheduling.
And how do you do this?
Now on those days, you are super free, write as many posts as you can and schedule them to be published 3 per day.
This way, you will be able to meet up with get 3 posts published every day.
Once you are able to follow this strategy, you will discover that you will have enough time to blog and relax.
What are you really writing about?
Another factor that will determine how much time you will spend blogging on a daily basis will depend on what you are really writing about.
If you are writing off the head, based on what you have learned and understood or what you know naturally, then you won’t be spending too much time finishing a particular post.
But if what you are going to write about involves a bit of research, then you will have additional time to do the research, hence you will have to spend so much time blogging on a daily basis.
And for this reason, it is always advisable to stick to a niche you are an expert in, or that rhymes with your occupation.
For instance, if you are a doctor or nurse, then the best niche to choose is ‘health and fitness’; a tailor or seamstress should go for ‘fashion’ etc.
But then, there are people who are gifted or professional in several fields, and such can run a multi-niche blog.
For instance, as a professional blogger, web designer, entrepreneur, musician, etc. this blog Taculia 9Ja is a multi-niche that provides career advice for bloggers, entrepreneurs, musicians, social media users, etc.
And even though I run several other blogs aside from this one, I have a schedule that helps me meet up with ensuring I post to my blogs as I should.
How much access do you have to blog tools?
Yes! Having access to blogging tools plays another important factor in how much time you should spend blogging on a daily basis, because even if you have nothing to do at the moment, but lack access to blogging tools like electricity or generator light, no battery in your laptop or phone, etc. It will be hard for you to meet up with your blogging schedule.
So you have to ensure those things that will enable you to blog every day are available, or else you won’t be able to meet up.
