Chief Godswill Akpabio, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, is in fresh trouble.
The trouble arises as the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), begins investigations over allegations of bribery.
Consequently, the Federal Commissioner in CCB, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, Reveals this to newsmen today.
Reports emerge, claiming Akapabio offers bribes to the CCB officials.
To enable them give a “soft landing”, to Sole Administrator of (NDDC), Efiong Okon Akwa. Over discrepancies in his asset declaration form.
Speaking on Monday, Agbonayinma, who heads a subcommittee investigating the case.
Relates that, the accusation was first made against Mr Akpabio, by Jackson Ude on Twitter.
He said: “We have been given a mandate, by the bureau to investigate the allegation. Against some officials of CCB on social media.
And let me be specific, one Mr Jackson Ude twitted, that money was given to some officials of CCB, by Akpabio.
Because of that, a committee to investigate the allegation is set up, with myself as the chairman.”
“However, the committee is not to witch-hunt anyone; but to do its job of defending the constitution of Nigeria.
Therefore, we invite Akpabio, who in his wisdom, give his side of the story.
Meanwhile, we cannot pass judgement. Because the investigation is still in progress.
All the accuse parties remain innocent, until the investigation is over,”. He concludes.
