Our daily bible verse and prayer for Thursday 28 October 2021 will be taken from the book of (Mathew 19:23-24. and it says:

Bible Verse:

“And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

(Mathew 19:24)

This statement of our Lord Jesus often make so many rich people give up on pursuing salvation through Christ Jesus.

But studying the background story of what gave rise to the above statement, we discover that the rich young man could not give up his riches to follow Jesus.

But does this mean that a rich person should give up all his riches and follow Jesus, in order to be saved?

To answer this question accurately, let us study a teaching Jesus gave about how to give up our riches in earth.

“Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in heaven that does not fail, where no thief approaches not moth destroy. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 13:33-34.

After studying the above scriptures you will agree with me that the rich people Jesus was telling to sell their riches in order to be saved were the ones who were preoccupied with the thoughts of their riches.

These kinds are the ones who will not even let a dime from their money enter into other people’s hands.

And if the opportunity presents itself, they will always covert other people’s fortune.

Prayer point.

Pray God to help you consider your riches as a worldly possession you are going to leave behind someday.

And in so doing make you able to help the poor and needy you have around you.

Lord Jesus, I pray that you help me to consider my earthly riches as only a worldly possession I am going to leave behind someday.

And also humble me enough to always lend an helping hands to others whenever the need calls for it.

I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
