Our daily bible verse and prayer for Thursday 13 January, 2022 will be taken from the book of 1 Samuel 1:8 and it says:

Bible Verse:

Then her husband Elkanah said to her, Hannah, why are you weeping? And why are you taking no food.

1 Samuel 1:8.

Prayer.

Sorrow is an ugly feeling which may be caused by several factors such as loss, affliction, disappointment etc.

But the Bible in 2 Corinthians reveals that there is also a godly sorrow.

In this verse we see that the Corinthians sorrow was caused by a change of heart; and the writer, Paul calls it a holy sorrow.

We can deduce that a godly or holy sorrow is the sorrow for sin.

The same Peter cried when he realized he had denied his Master, Christ.

This kind of sorrow usually leads to repentance and sincere confession of sin.

Now the other sorrow, which we can term as worldly, usually leads to despair.

And this is the kind of sorrow we ought to pray against today.

The opposite of sorrow is joy, and in the Bible we realize that joy is a fruit of the spirit.

Which means God is going to give us that joy we so much need today and always.

Pray for joy today.
