Our daily bible verse and prayer for Sunday 14 November 2021 will be taken from the book of 1 Corinthians 1:17 and it says:

Bible Verse:

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

1 Corinthians 1:17

From the above passage, we might get to wonder what is the real meaning of baptism.

Baptism symbolizes the washing away of original sin we inherited from our first parents; and being re-born into God through Christ Jesus.

Jesus ministry began with a baptism from John the baptist.

Baptism however is just a rite of passage into Christianity and salvation should not be linked with baptism; rather the preaching of the gospel as Paul who wrote the above scripture reveals.

In Acts 9:18, Paul himself was baptized by Ananias; but that was after his conversion on the road to Damascus to persecute the early Christians.

Though we can never rule out baptism in Christendom; but we should not see it as a means of salvation but rather see it as a ceremonial law in Christendom.

Now Jesus Himself did not baptize anyone. And in Mathew 3:11 John the baptist reveals the reason that He is going to baptize us with the Holy Spirit.

And that scripture was fulfilled on the day of pentecost.

Prayer point.

Therefore, pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit that will commision you for greater experience of the gospel.
