Our daily bible verse and prayer for Friday will be taken from the book of Acts 9:40 and it says:

Bible Verse:

But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

Acts 9:40.

What is spectacular about this story is that the scripture began the story of Tabitha by portraying her as a woman full of good works and charitable deeds.

Now the story has it that at a point this woman felt very sick and died, but since she was very important to the people around her; they refused to take her to the morgue or bury her but rather laid her on a bed.

Before now Peter and the other disciples were going around town performing miracles. So when the Christians herad that Peter was in Lydda, which was close to Joppa where Tabitha lived and died, they sent for him.

When Peter arrived, the people did not just stand there and find stories that will motivate him, rather all the widows stood by weeping while showing clothes Tabitha had sewed for them for free.

This then was what moved the Holy Spirit which was at work in Peter to bring Tabitha back to life.

Beloved of God, our bible verse for today has revealed to us how good works and charitable deeds can save us from the power of death.

Because when we are good to people, they will never want to loose us. So aside from waiting for us to fall sick and die before we are ressurected.

Our good works and charitable deeds will make people bless us and that is more than enough to give us long life here on earth.

So today, let us pray God to give us that spirit that will make us perform good works and do charitable deeds for others so we might live longer on this earth.

Let us pray!

Mighty Father, we thank you for your word today, and knowing that we are always slacking when it comes to doing good and being charitable towards our fellow human beings.

But since you’ve brought your word as a reminder to us today, also help us to practice what you’ve taught us today for in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen.
