With this essential guide, you can definitely grow your business from ground zero to the up top.

First let’s try to get the definition of internet marketing.

What is internet marketing?

Internet marketing may be defined as the means of using or combining several online tools to reach out to a wider audience for the purpose of growing your business.

Many see internet marketing as a form of advertisement, and they are not wrong. Honestly, it is, but to my best of knowledge it is not just one form of advertisement, but it’s many different forms of advertisement in one single term.

In this beginners guide to internet marketing, I will give try to give you the most basic principles of this essential form of advertising.

For example, you will know how to learn about your potential customers, techniques for branding, and search engine optimization practices.

It is very basic for you to understand how you can combine all this factors to create the perfect internet marketing strategy.

Step 1: First of all learn about your customers.

The first ever step you should take when you are starting out with internet marketing is to learn about your customers.

Be mindful of the fact that you are going to be selling to intellectual beings; and not stones.

Most of them already have the knowledge of the business.

And one horrible thing about internet marketing is that, customers have to build a certain trust with you first; and sometimes personally, before they can move on to purchase anything you offer.

Now learning about your customers will depend on the kind of goods or services you are offering.

And mind you, others are already far gone offering those products and services, and as a newbie, you must have something unique or spectacular that will grasp your potential customers.

Thus, starting out will be hard at first, and worst still most of the customers will just walk away without responding to any of your call-to-action.

But never mind, still go ahead and put those call-to-action buttons to retain potential customers.

It could be a subscription to your newsletter, a request to join your WhatzApp or Facebook group etc.

WNow once the customers begin to come in, no matter how small; start to engage with them through active conversations.

From thence you will get to know what they like and want to see more or what turns them off.

Now when the sales starts to flow, study and know what specific ads lead to the most sales and what videos or images seem to draw most people to your product or service.

As a matter of fact, you also need to put yourself in your customers shoes, because you are likely going to have more success if you take the time to think like your potential customer from the very start.

Questions like:

Where does he work?

What does she need to make her life easier that your business, product, or service can offer?

The answers you provide for the above questions can really help you to mold your ad campaigns, contents, email marketing campaigns, and other marketing strategies; that will meet up with your customers’ needs.

Step 2: Create a story for your brand.

According to OneSpot, 92% of consumers love to see adverts that tells a story, especially the kind they can relate to.

Videos and images have been known to be more effective in developing that important relationship between you and your customer than words.

So, you need to utilize these tools to let your potential customers understand why your brand does what it does, and how it matters to them.

Ensure your story is able to explain the purpose of your product or service, and what it can do for others.

It’s better if you can present it in a way that make people connect with emotionally.

Step 3: Optimize your blog or website for SEO.

Optimizing your blog or website, or even your online store; for SEO is very important because it is naturally going to find your potential customers and bring them in.

And customers who find products or services on their own are found to engage with them more than those you are spending money through adverts to find.

The two SEO techniques you need to use are contained in the remaining two steps: keyword research and content optimization.

Step 4: Keyword Research.

Keyword research should be your first step to drive organic traffic to your blog or website. Using the right keywords in your blog contents will help you to target the right people you want for your business.

Don’t just pick up topics as they come into your head and start to create your blog posts.

Once you conceive the idea of what you want to write about; first of all run a kkeyword research to discover what terms people are using to search for that idea.

My favourite keyword research tool is Google Search Engine, and all you need to do is input your words and then run a search.

When the results are out, go to the area you see “People Also Ask”, and from there you will be able to come up with a topic that will help your contents rank on search engines.

Step 5: Content optimization.

When you have your right keywords ready in place; the next thing you have to do is to create the type of contents that’s optimized with your keywords, that will help you to target your potential customers.

Even if you are going to sell a physical product, don’t just throw a picture of it on your online store and wait for sales; rather write a keyword target story that relates to that product and present it at the end of your post.

Now that your readers have already learned all they needed to know about your products, there is noting that will make them hesitate to buy it.
